Asset-building in North Carolina

The center provides research and analysis support for the North Carolina Assets Alliance, a statewide coalition of public, private and nonprofit organizations focused on expanding economic opportunity and building a more stable financial future for all North Carolinians through effective asset-building strategies.

Project Overview

The North Carolina Assets Alliance is a statewide coalition of public, private and nonprofit organizations focused on expanding economic opportunity and building a more stable financial future for all North Carolinians through effective asset-building strategies.

Experts at the UNC Center for Community Capital provide research and policy analysis support.

Research associate Jessica Dorrance and senior research associate Lucy S. Gorham contributed to the alliance‚Äôs 2009 report, “A Prosperity Grid for North Carolina: Connecting Households and Communities to Economic Opportunity.” The report sets forth a vision and policy recommendations for North Carolina to build a prosperity grid that can create good jobs, provide opportunities to create and build savings and protect assets.

 

The UNC Center for Community Capital conducts research and policy analysis on ways to make financial services work better for more people and communities.
