About Jess Dorrance

Jess Dorrance assists with the center’s work in asset-building, consumer financial services and financial capability. She helps conduct research and analysis to understand what products, programs and policies promote economic security and mobility for low-wealth households and communities. She focuses specifically on opportunities for households to build savings for both short- and longer-term needs.

Recent projects include an evaluation of $aveNYC, a matched savings program for low-income tax filers in New York City, a review of strategies to reduce the racial wealth gap in North Carolina, and investigating opportunities for increasing financial capability for students at historically black colleges and universities.

Ms. Dorrance also serves as a center representative to the North Carolina Assets Alliance, a coalition of organizations committed to educating the public and policy makers about asset-based strategies that promote economic security and prosperity for all North Carolinians.
