Communities need access to financial capital to thrive. Center researchers examine strategies that increase capital flows to community enterprises and the impact of such investments on wealth creation and economic health.

The center’s research and analyses promote policies and practices that drive investments that are profitable for businesses and sustainable for communities.

Key areas of study include:

  • Assessing the role and impact of community institutions in promoting economic opportunity and vitality.
  • Evaluating tax credits, private equity investments and other financial incentives that drive investments to distressed and under-served communities.

The UNC Center for Community Capital conducts research and policy analysis on ways to make financial services work better for more people and communities.
